Fishing trip

I still remember the first time I went on a fishing trip with my family. My sister absolutely hated it, my dad was happy about the family trip, and my mother was the most excited about it. Together, we caught a good amount on that trip; we brought most of them back home, but we also released some. That’s the point of fishing, isn’t it? For food and for recreation.
But Jesus had something else in mind when He said the following in Matthew 4:19, “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” Definitely not for food nor for recreation. This is how Timm Challies describes the analogy of fishing for people: “Fish are caught against their will and then killed. God changes the will of men so that they will swim straight for the net, and then He catches them to save them.”
KPCM’s fishing trip to Costa Rica, Guatemala, Cuba, and Peru has resumed after a long break. I pray that we will catch many people for God’s kingdom and His glory.
