10,000 reasons
Rev. Aaron Kwon
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year” lyrics are related to Christmas, and I agree with it since it is indeed an extraordinary holiday. But Thanksgiving is also a wonderful time of the year, don’t you think so? A day or week to gather with family and friends, to enjoy good fellowship and food, and to express our gratitude. Of course, how can we forget the “great” deals of Black Friday shopping, right? Furthermore, this season is a special moment for Christians to show their thankfulness to God. But if you think about it, isn’t it unfair to be grateful just for one day or week? Don’t you believe that God deserves more than a day or week of thankful hearts?
The song titled “10,000 reasons” by Matt Redman and Steve Angrisano is a beautiful reminder to bless the Lord, to praise the Lord, to give thanks to the Lord. The worship song doesn’t describe literally 10,000 reasons to bless the Lord, but it does make us think that we have tons of different reasons to rejoice, to praise, and to be grateful in all seasons. Consequently, the chorus declares, “Bless the Lord oh my soul, oh my soul, worship His Holy name. Sing like never before, oh my soul, I’ll worship Your Holy name.” We already have “10,000 reasons” to be thankful for, that’s roughly 27.39 reasons per day throughout a year. I hope and pray that we will always express our gratitude to our God.
