Still Waters (Psalm 23) – Rev. Aaron Kwon

It is an exciting time of the year; it’s not a new year, it’s not Thanksgiving, it’s not Christmas, it’s not summer missions, but it is a time of transitions. Last Sunday, we had a graduation ceremony for our little children from Pink House and for our Sunday School children, who will be joining the youth. Moreover, we had and will have youth students heading to college for the very first time. And lastly, we also have new members joining our beloved family here at KPCM.

I believe this season is exciting for some, but I am sure this can be nerve wracking for those going through the different transitions of life. “Still waters” by Leanna Crawford is a worship song that encourages believers to lean on the Lord as we go through uncertainties, through the unknown, through anxiety, because God is our shepherd and our source of peace, as it is written in Psalm 23. These are the lyrics of the verses, which describe our circumstances, “Great Aunt Maurine said at a hundred and three, write scripture on your heart for when you need it ’cause anxiety hates Psalm 23. So just say it to yourself ’til you believe it, and I’m feeling like I’m needing it right now… Lord, I believe You can set me at ease. Turn this broken piece in me to peace and quiet.     I know there’s power in Your word, so I’ll say it over and over ’til my soul’s       reminded.”

How many of you can relate to those words? But I hope you can relate to these words even more, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He leads me by still waters ’til my fears are gone. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I know You are with me, my Father, my friend. Your goodness and mercy will follow me all of my days. I know by Your still waters, I’m safe.” Have a blessed transition knowing that our Lord and   shepherd is with you at all times.
